* 2009 Reading Challenge

WELL DONE everyone who completed the 2009 Reading Challenge!

The Ready, Steady... Read! challenge has been another success with whole families taking part (Mums, Dads, older brothers and sisters, Nans and Granddads) as well as the staff from school. Gosport Fire Fighters (White Watch) also took part and came into school to tell the children what they had read - many thanks to them for that. I know the children really enjoyed it.

The children and adults have found the experience enjoyable and there has definitely been a buzz at school about reading. Staff, parents and children have been giving each other recommendations about books they have read with all wanting to get their cards stamped. The school has been inundated with adults and children both before school in the morning and at the end of the day.

Each successful adult received a medal and certificate with children receiving a certificate, book marker and a gift sponsored by Asda.

This year we teamed up with Usborne Books to make it a sponsored event. We did not make it mandatory as we wanted everyone to benefit but those that wanted to take part in the sponsorship did. Many thanks for all your efforts and the money raised will help buy new books.
